Chocolate-flavoured milk might give you more of a boost than a sports drink. A study published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism looked at a group of male cyclists who rode until their muscles were depleted of energy, then rested for four hours and cycled again until exhaustion. While resting, the cyclists drank either chocolate milk, Gatorade or Endurox sports drinks. During a second round of exercise, the cyclists who drank the chocolate milk cycled about 50 per cent longer than those who drank Endurox, and about as long as those who drank the Gatorade.
